Student Mastery
2014-2015 Work Plan
Each year in early August, Harborside's leadership team reviews current data to determine our areas of greatest need. This is fleshed out through various committees (Numeracy, Literacy, Culture, etc.).
During our annual leadership retreat, our committees craft a school goal that is associated with their committee. Each goal is accompanied with staff learning targets, data points and professional development opportunities. The goals are then presented to the leadership team. |
Once the leadership team approves the work plan, it is then presented to the staff. Each staff member writes their Student Learning Objective (SLO) based off of the work plan. The remainder of the year is spent creating and implementing professional development opportunities around the work plan.

MAPS Growth
In the 2015-2016, the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test was given in fall, winter, and spring to all 6th -10th grade students at Harborside. Harborside celebrated great growth, and in almost all categories surpassed national growth in both Math and Reading. Additionally Harborside students demonstrated understanding through RIT scores that exceeded the district averages in all grade levels for both Math and Reading as well. The SLO Growth column shows the growth of students who entered Harborside below grade level and who were targeted through staff Student Learning Objective goals.

Graduation and College Placement Rates
Harborside Academy students consistently exceed state and district performance in literacy, science, and social sciences as measured by the Wisconsin Forward Examination and the ACT ASPIRE.
The school met expectations and ranked above the district on the DPI School Report Card for the 2015-2016 school year. There were large gains made in closing achievement gaps and the school also scored high in post-secondary readiness. With a 99% graduation rate, 100% of the students take the ACT scoring an average composite score of 19.8. Harborside's 2016 graduating seniors celebrated being awarded 1.69 million dollars in scholarships. Graduates have returned to Harborside to share their personal, academic, and professional successes that they directly attribute back to the education they received and the culture that exists at Harborside. |
Student Growth and Development
At Harborside we use many points of data to determine next steps. This link contains a summary of Harborside's important academic data points. Each school year, Mr. Haithcock presents this data to the school's stakeholders at our annual State of the School address. This data is also published on our data wall outside the main office and is included in our school's annual report to the Harborside Academy Governance Board.
